Why UEFA accreditation matters to a South African coach
A UEFA licence is the qualification most senior club football in the world recognises. Premier League first-team coaches must hold the UEFA Pro Licence. Bundesliga, La Liga, Eredivisie, MLS, Saudi Pro League — all of them benchmark to the UEFA framework. For the ambitious South African coach who wants to work outside the SAFA pyramid or attract international ownership groups into a local appointment, the UEFA licence is what unlocks the conversation. The CAF pathway remains essential for domestic credibility; the UEFA pathway adds international portability.
The four UEFA licence levels we deliver
UEFA C is the grassroots and youth licence — the starting point for the coach moving from playing to leading. UEFA B covers semi-professional and academy-lead environments. UEFA A is the credential for first-team and academy-head roles in the professional game. UEFA Pro is the head-coach qualification for top-flight football. Each level builds on the last; you do not skip steps. We manage recruitment, prior-learning recognition, cross-border admin, residential block scheduling, accommodation and in-situ mentoring end-to-end.
The partnership model
UEFA accreditation is delivered exclusively through UEFA member federations. Tribal Nation Sports operates as the Sub-Saharan Africa channel partner for a UEFA member federation, in active discussions and on track to finalise by Q2 2027. This is the same model that delivers UEFA licences in the US through US Soccer's foreign partnerships, in Australia via FFA, and in several African markets via channel arrangements with the FAW and FPF. We are the operational layer; the partner federation is the awarding body.

Cost and timeline
Pricing varies by licence level and depends on travel and accommodation costs at residential blocks. We publish honest, all-in pricing for each cohort — no hidden fees. Timeline: UEFA B typically 9–12 months, UEFA A 12–18 months, UEFA Pro 18–24 months. UEFA C is delivered as an intensive residential plus 3 months supervised practice.
Who this is not for
If you need a domestic SA coaching licence to manage in the PSL, that's the SAFA / CAF pathway and we will recommend that route. We are not competing with SAFA — we complement them. If you want a fast diploma that doesn't translate into real coaching credibility, look elsewhere. UEFA accreditation is a demanding, internationally-recognised qualification — not a certificate mill.

Is a UEFA licence recognised in South Africa?
Yes. UEFA licences are recognised under FIFA's mutual-recognition framework, which SAFA participates in. PSL clubs increasingly accept UEFA credentials at first-team and academy-head levels. For domestic match-day technical area accreditation in some PSL fixtures, you may still need to register your UEFA qualification with SAFA — we handle that admin on your behalf.
Do I need to travel to Europe?
Yes — UEFA licences include residential blocks at the partner federation's training facility. We minimise time abroad through intensive residential weeks rather than long stays, and we manage all travel, visa and accommodation logistics.
Can I start with UEFA A or do I have to do C first?
You progress sequentially, but prior-learning recognition can compress the path if you already hold a CAF B or equivalent. We assess your current qualifications and playing/coaching record at intake and place you at the appropriate entry point.
How is this different from ONE10SPORT?
ONE10SPORT is the South African channel for the Scottish FA's licence courses. We operate with a different UEFA member federation, and our offer is broader — masterclasses, specialist certifications and full UEFA pathway management. We work alongside SAFA Western Cape, not against them.
What if I drop out mid-licence?
Refund and credit policies are spelled out in the cohort agreement. Residential-block payments are non-refundable once travel is booked; supervised-practice fees pro-rate. We work hard to support coaches through completion — the typical issue is scheduling, not capability, and we have flexibility for legitimate professional commitments.
