Why this certificate exists
Football has changed. The modern operation has at least eight roles, and analyst is the one that grew fastest — and the one South African universities and federations haven't built a pathway for. The Performance Analyst Certificate fills that gap. Graduates have a portfolio, a recognised certification, and a network into PSL clubs and academies hiring analysts.
The curriculum
Module 1: Foundations of performance analysis. Module 2: Wyscout — coding, tagging, opposition-report delivery. Module 3: Hudl — clip-pack workflows, presentation to coaches. Module 4: Data analysis fundamentals — xG, expected possession value, pressing intensity. Module 5: Player profiling and recruitment integration. Module 6: Working with the head coach — how analysts add value without overwhelming. Final project: a full opposition report delivered to a real PSL club.
Format
Three months part-time. Two evenings per week (live online + recorded). One full-day Saturday workshop per month in Cape Town (or Johannesburg from cohort 2). Final practical assessment with a real PSL or academy partner.

Outcome
On successful completion: a Tribal Nation Sports Performance Analyst Certificate, a Wyscout proficiency endorsement, a Hudl proficiency endorsement, a portfolio with at least one real opposition report, and direct introductions to PSL clubs and academies hiring analysts.

Is this Wyscout-certified or Hudl-certified?
Both. Tribal Nation Sports is in formal partnership with Wyscout to deliver Wyscout-proficiency credentialing as part of the certificate, and is in advanced discussions with Hudl on a similar arrangement. The first cohort launches Q1 2027.
Will I get a job at the end?
We don't make placement guarantees, but we do guarantee introductions. Tribal Nation Sports has working relationships across the PSL, Motsepe League and a growing list of academies. When a club is hiring an analyst, our graduates are first in the door.
How much does it cost?
Founding-cohort pricing for the first intake is published when the cohort opens. Indicative range R28,000–R36,000 all-in, including software-trial access for the duration of the course and the final-project review.
What software do I need?
A modern laptop with at least 16GB of RAM. We provide Wyscout and Hudl trial access for the course duration. Beyond that, free tools — and your eyes.
